The Spirit of the Season!
Ok, well, Michele D has done it again! Every month, she writes a letter in the Club newsletter about something relevant for the month. This month, among other things, it was about a book she read called the Christmas Jars. It is about a jar people filled with change to share with others who are less fortunate. Anyway, she went on write “After reading the book, you may feel the urge to start your own Christmas, Chanukah or Caring jar. It doesn’t have to be a jar . . . it can be the shoebox that you fill with little presents for a child who would otherwise get nothing, it is the canned goods that you donate to a hungry family, it is the toy you drop in a Toys for Tots bin, it is the thought that matters, not the name brand or the thing. It doesn’t even have to be an object . . . it could be holding the door for someone with a stroller or giving up your seat for an elderly person, it can be volunteering, or even making a card for a soldier or visiting a Senior Center. The book (and the season for that matter) is about life, the choices we make and random acts of kindness.
Anyway, her letter just touched me, and I thought it was a perfect way to start off the first days of Christmas. Psst . . . I am going out to buy the book today – if anyone wants it after me . . . I would be happy to share.
